The BSE's roots go back to the 1830s when Bostonians were looking for new ways to invest the wealth they had earned through shipping, banking, and insurance. To add value to the capital-raising and asset- management process by providing the highest quality and most cost-effective self-regulated marketplace for the trading of financial instruments, promote confidence in and understanding of that process, and serve as a forum for discussion of relevant national and international policy issues. The Winnipeg Stock Exchange merged operations with The Canadian Venture Exchange (CDNX) on November 24, 2000. The companies listed on the Nasdaq Canada Market represent a broad cross section of industries, including technology, consumer products, pharmaceuticals and multimedia. Since its inception in 1971, The Nasdaq Stock Market has been the industry innovator. TSX Group, which includes the Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, TSX Markets and TSX Datalinx, collectively manages all aspects of Canada's senior and junior capital markets.
